Deep tissue massage
Deep tissue massage is a practice that aims to release connective tissue, fascia and loosen muscles deep with the body. It not only focuses on the deep layers but on the superficial ones too.
Techniques adopted include static pressure, myofascial release and compression. The massage session is generally more focused and consistant working on particular muscle groups.
Deep tissue massage is a common style of massage. Sports people and those with active lifestyles are suited to this style of massage. It helps remedy and alleviate muscle strain due to excessive repetitive use helping the muscles repair after injury or high activity. Post-massage is it not uncommon for muscles to be tender a day or two after but generally the feeling should be of rejevenation.
Deep tissue is also a very powerful method for all those wanting to release tension, stimulate muscles and circulation within the body. Those with sedentary lifestyles or chronic musclular pain will find deep tissue very beneficial too for stimulating the muscles and for improving circulation.
